Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
We are now to the sixth month of the year, yes we are about half way into 2017. Time is flying by! As I mentioned last month about the flooding in Central Illinois, we are still above flood stage but should be below that level in the next week, unless Mother Nature has any idea's to extend the flooding.
The first image is from another state receiving a large amount of precipitation, with the difference being they are receiving the white stuff. Yes it's still snowing in the Western United States. I will spare you from seeing the white fluffy snow and give you a large sand pit. Not really a sand pit, it's one of the largest sand dunes in North America - Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. During my last visit I hiked to the top of the dunes, not really a big deal but when you live in Illinois and the elevation change in the sand is higher than the elevation gain in all of the state of Illinois!
Our second image this month is from a few days ago; it's from Round 6 of the American Flat Track racing series at the Illinois State Fair Grounds mile race track. Racer Jared Mees is leading the long train of motorcycles out of turn four. Give you an idea how fast these racers are traveling, over 1 mile in under 35 seconds and the top four finished about 1/8 of second apart after 25 miles and the top five were separated by less than 0.4 seconds. Jared Mees finished second to Indian Motorcycle team mate Bryan Smith by 0.005 seconds! Make sure you attend an event close to your area, it's amazing to watch the skill these racers possess.
