Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
For everyone in the United States, happy fourth of July - our country is 241 years young.
The first image is from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, from a small stream located along the Roaring Fork Road near the edge of the park. I learned late last week that this section of the park was not damaged during last years wild fire. The residential area less than 15 minutes away from this spot were not so lucky, their homes were completely destroyed.
Our second image this month can have a few different meanings depending on where you work and/or live. Hopefully for most, if not everyone, it is the celebration of the United States Independence or maybe a different holiday for those outside the US. For many people around Central Illinois it might reference the fireworks Caterpillar Inc has been igniting over the past few years announcing headquarter expansion, layoffs and then moving of executives out of Peoria. The announcement of executives moving to Chicago suburbs was a little odd since less than two years earlier they presented a plan to the city to expand their headquarters in downtown Peoria.
