Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
We have made it to the month of August, summer is close to being over and about time for school to start. For those readers in the US, a big event occurs this year for everyone in North America - a total solar eclipse on August 21. In fact, everyone in North America plus parts of South America, Africa, and Europe will see at least a partial solar eclipse, while the thin path of totality will pass through portions of 14 US states. The last time the contiguous U.S. saw a total eclipse was in 1979, which I recall while being in grade school. If all goes well, we will have an image from the eclipse next month.
The first image is from Matthiessen State Park, located near Utica IL. This waterfall is Lake Falls, located below Matthiessen Lake. Over the past 7 years of the monthly calendar, this is only the second image presented in black and white - so hopefully you like the image.
Our second image this month is from Kennebunkport Maine of a Herring Gull, this was shot shortly after sunrise along the Kennebunk River on a foggy morning.
Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for wide-screens. Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your computer that you can remember and change the background as needed for your OS.
