Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
Say hello to the month of September, soon summer will be over and all the kids will be back in school - if they are not already. For readers in the US, hopefully you took a little time to view some portion of the solar eclipse on August 21. It's an incredible experience and was wonderful to hear people's reaction when totality started. Since the eclipse was a success for most of the US, we will have a little solar theme this month.
The first image is sunset over Great Salt Lake from Antelope Island outside Salt Lake City Utah. Sharp eyed viewers will notice little black specks over the water surface, those are birds looking for insects to eat.
Our second image this month is from Fort Massac State Park in Metropolis IL, it's the first state park in IL - it's also my first total solar eclipse as an adult. The image is a composite of images from beginning to end of the solar eclipse, about 3 hours. Also near the bottom is an image of the second diamond ring at the end of totality. Based on the motion of the moon, the actual eclipse starts in the upper right corner and travels to the lower left. Sharp eyed viewers will notice a white speck to the left of the sun's corona during totality (center image), that is the star Regulus in the constellation Leo.

Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your computer that you can remember and change the background as needed for your OS.
