This past month was good, numerous photo opportunities with motorcycle racing, ice hockey and wildlife. The temperatures in the Midwest have been all over the map, with spring like days but also snow and ice days and single digit temperatures. Spent a few days in the New England area, considerable snow fall while there; lucky to escape before most of New Hampshire was blanketed with 12" of snow a couple of days after I left. While there, I was able to see a couple of college hockey games, which was difficult to sit, watch and not have a camera in my hand. Looking forward to good winter weather this month and hopefully capture some frozen or partially frozen waterfalls and maybe some wildlife in snowy conditions. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback and letting me know you love the images. If you have any special requests, let me know and I will do my best to honor those requests.

We head back (a few months ago) to the Pacific Ocean and Olympic National Park for our first image, Ruby Beach shortly before sunrise, if the sun would have shown it's glow. Obviously the sky was obscured on this October morning, so any light with the low hanging fog was obscured for the few hours spent finding images along the beach area. While spending a few days around the coastline of the park, fog was the one constant we had, was hoping for light rain and fall colors but we were too early in the fall season in the Pacific NW. The second image this month is another American Bald Eagle but this is a fresh one, taken just 3 days ago outside Gladstone IL, along the Mississippi River. While I missed the moment the eagle grabbed the meal, I was thrilled to get the water splashing shortly after the fish was pulled from the water. Personally this type of shot is difficult for me, mainly since I am attempting to watch a large number of birds attempting to capture a fish across a wide body of water. On the day I was out capturing images, there were between 75 and 100 eagles in the area and while that is a good number, it's fairly small compared to what I normally see for this time of year. The lack of ice on the river allows the eagles to feed in a much larger area, so that does not help my quest. Hopefully I can get out one more time while the cold temperatures remain before spring temperatures are here to stay. The bald eagle will also be our image for mobile phone backgrounds. Camera Data: 600mm 1/2500 sec F11 ISO3200
