We have nearly arrived at the final month of the year, hard to believe in a way but not shocking based on my schedule for the year. Personally, the last 35 days have certainly had challenges but like everything in life, you get knocked down, stand back up and dust yourself off. When we think our life is going bad, an event like the one last week in Lewiston, Maine puts things into a whole new perspective. This one hit a little closer to home since I have been in the region, Maine is not a state I think of with gun violence and currently have friends and family within 90 miles of the shooting locations. Never a good situation and wish I had answers to help our great country end senseless killings.

For those keeping track at home, we have had images with reflections in them since July of this year, so let's carry on the theme with another one. A couple of months ago we were out in Washington State, so how about Washington DC this time? The first image was taken in front of the Lincoln Monument, looking across the Reflection Pond at the Washington Monument, shortly before sunrise. It's a much longer story but I had forgotten my tripod a few hundred miles away, so I had to improvise with various items to create a support structure for the long exposure. Our mobile image utilizes this view in a vertical format. Camera Data: 24mm 2 sec F11 ISO1600

Our next 'action' image is half landscape and action, this was captured about 4 weeks ago at Indiana Dunes National Park. I have been to the park a few times but was always short on time, so I made sure I took my time and explored areas I had not seen previously. The rangers at the main visitor center were very helpful giving me suggestions, which I visited nearly every stop mentioned. Realized on this adventure how spread out the park is, with a few isolated sections to explore with diverse areas from West to East. This image was captured on my return to the beach area from one of the harbor lights on a breakwater wall, lucky for me Lake Michigan was fairly rough to create some tall waves and splashes on the rocks. Camera Data: 200mm 1/3200 sec F8 ISO800
