Normally this time of year, I head west to enjoy some National Parks but this year, I am not sure I will be visiting any western parks. Maybe I can make an early winter trip to make up for it. I was in planning stages for a trip to Grand Canyon National Park next year, for a long hike starting at the North Rim. With the current Dragon Bravo Fire and closure of the northern section of the park for the remainder of this year, that trip might need to be changed. Currently here in the Midwest, our air quality is at 'unhealthy' stage with smoke from the Grand Canyon fire and fires in Canada combining to produce hazy skies in the central US region. If you have health risks and are living in the upper Midwest or the NorthEast part of the United States, take care of yourself if you are working outside.

Both images this month are from the same park, Badlands National Park in South Dakota, plus both were captured about one year ago. The first one is sunset over a rock formation, with the sun coming from the left side of the frame. Normally I can look at an image and have a good idea where it was captured, for this image I truly have no idea where it was taken. Based on the background and the focal length used, it appears I was at a higher elevation but the location is somewhat of a mystery. Guess I need to head back to the park and find this location again. Camera Data: 800mm 1/1250 sec F11 ISO1250

The second image is part of a Mule Deer herd found near the Yellow Mounds Overlook in Badlands NP, I was capturing some images of sunset, a group of deer started showing up - the sun had set behind a rock formation and these ladies were moving along in the shadows. Eventually the light was dropping fast, so I just spent a little time watching with my eyes. In total, there were around twenty deer in the area, not all appeared to be welcome to join the group, a few small bucks kept chasing another buck off; it was very interesting to watch. Camera Data: 400mm 1/1000 sec F4 ISO1600

Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for wide-screens along with a Mobile Phone Image. For desktop computers or tablets, Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your device and change the background as needed for your OS.

For Mobile devices, most mobile phones require a long press and a menu popup will be displayed, click save then follow the steps for your operating system to set as your background image.

If anyone has problems or questions with their mobile device, let me know and I will try to assist.
