Tim Lester Images Monthly Update

Subject: Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
Date: June 30th 2010

June is usually a busy month and it was, as I mentioned in last month's message, but this month Mother Nature changed some of my plans. The Hotshoe race at the Peoria TT track was rained out, so I am hoping for a good and dry August National race. Even the Proctor Cycling Classic had rain, so no event was safe and at this time the Illinois River is 4.5 feet above flood stage and countless acres of corn has been destroyed before July even begins. One event that I did not mention about last month is the 24 Hours of Le Mans and I need to congratulate Audi Motorsports on a very impressive win. For those people not familiar with the event, there are a large number of technical innovations produced for the race that reach your road car. Some of items to be thankful for - windshield wipers, turbochargers, disc brakes, radial tires, halogen headlamps and many more. This year the Audi team finished 1-2-3 with the number 9 car finishing first with a record 392 laps. This is not your no rmal lap we see in American racing, one lap is 8.48 miles. The winning team had an average of 46 minutes between pit-stops and they still traveled over 3324 miles in 24 hours with a diesel powered car! One day I WILL be shooting pictures at this great event.

I was truly honored this past month to shoot the annual Easter Seal Wines and Polo on the Prairie at Weaver Farms. Normally, the extremely talented Kevin May shoots this event (www.kevinmay.com) but he was busy and I was asked to fill in. Not sure who provided them my name but I was thrilled (and nervous) to shoot the event - all went very well and I am very happy with the results after a long day and night. Kevin is the top commercial photographer in the area and a mentor of mine, so filling in for him placed me on top of the clouds.

July is usually a hot month and I don't plan on shooting many events, so who knows where I will be. Last year for the Peoria Fireworks, the weather was a little overcast and windy - I truly expected the fireworks to be canceled due to the wind alone. They were not, so this made for some interesting images of the fireworks and longer exposures. While I am very happy with the firework images from last year I decided for this month's desktop calendar could use a little more, so I added the American flag. Hope you like the image and if you would like to see more images follow this link: http://prints.timlesterimages.com/p310308068

Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for widescreens.
