Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
Welcome to the month of October, fall has started, high school football is in full swing and the baseball playoffs have started. If you are a baseball fan, last Wednesday was an incredible night of games for the wildcard races for both the National and American leagues. Sorry to the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox fans of this update - it was a hard loss to both teams.
One of my favorite 'features' of the fall season is the cooler temperatures at night, mix in the right dew point and you get a nice layer of fog. During a drive last year, heading toward downtown Peoria, the area was under a blanket of fog. It took a few hours to burn off, so I took advantage of this and shot numerous images of local landmarks with the fog. Remember my motto to always have a camera with you, this is another example why. So for the landscape image this month I present the Spirit of Peoria riverboat, amongst a huge fog bank. For those interested, the image is a 10 second exposure, it takes very special conditions to shoot an object on the river (from a dock) with that long of an exposure!
We will head back to last month's numerous shoots for the action image, it has Casey Stoner of Australia riding in the MotoGP series. Stoner rode incredibly well and was in a class by himself during the 2011 Red Bull Indianapolis GP MotoGP, easily winning the race over his teammate. The Americans overall did not race well, the one exception was Ben Spies from Texas, he took third place in the race after qualifying second behind Stoner.
I am currently working on plans for my annual visit to a different National Park or National Monument, it should take place later this month. It will be a secret until I finalize details but hopefully next month when you receive the update I will be in a National Park shooting some wonderful images.
