Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
Welcome to the month of September, all kids around the United States just love being back in school - OK, maybe not all of them. Thoughts and prayers to everyone along the Gulf Coast affected by Isaac, hopefully the Midwest and Eastern US only have rain as the storm continues it's path. Those of us in the Midwest can use the rain, unfortunately the water is a little late for the farmers.
The first image this month is looking at Manhattan in New York City, as seen from Liberty State Park in New Jersey, the Hudson River is the body of water seen. Ellis Island is out of frame to the right. On the left side of the image you can see construction of One World Trade Center a.k.a. Freedom Tower, construction is planned to be completed next year. The building under construction near the middle of the frame is 150 Greenwich Street – World Trade Center Tower #4, the building will sit where the former WTC #4 was located. Located between both buildings is the former Twin Towers and now the Memorials for the victims of 9/11.
The second image this month is a North American Aviation T-6 Texan, shot during the Tee It Up For The Troops charity golf outing in Peoria IL. Every year the organizers have a military flyover between rounds of golf, sharp eyed viewers will notice a 'green' pattern on the side of the plane, that's part of the golf course being reflected back on the plane. Tee It Up For The Troops is a non-profit organization established in 2005 at the request of a soldier from Minnesota who, while serving in Iraq, was asked by his Father what he needed. He responded by saying, “I am fine, do something for the soldiers and their families back home”. Tee It Up For The Troops was created to honor that request. It's an honor to be asked to be a photographer for this event, visit http://www.teeitupforthetroopsil.org/ for more information on the Central Illinois Chapter, which has been one of the most successful events in the country. James Ball, the founder of the national organization was in Peoria for this years event.
