Summer is now over officially and fall is active or will be starting soon for most within the United States. It's been a good month for me, had requests for photography projects from Europe and sold prints to someone outside the United States. Life is good when you expand the boundaries of your business. Looking forward to a good fall season, hopefully your area has good color also - get outside and enjoy the fresh air!

The first image is a little different from my normal images and was shot in Searsport Maine in August; it also fits well with Halloween later this month. Upon our arrival to Searsport, our friends apologized for the weather forecast for the first few days, foggy and possibly rain. So what do you do when the weather might not be ideal, you take what you can get and run with it! The first morning we awoke to really foggy conditions and high humidity, so I went exploring looking for interesting images. This close up was one of many that I shot until the wind was blowing fairly hard, making images very difficult to capture sharp.

Image number two this month is a very common scene in the Midwest and other locations around the country. I had the pleasure of shooting images of a family farm operation while they harvested a small 40 acre field of beans. It's amazing the technology in the farming machines today, everything from GPS control of equipment to in-cab computers displaying yield values for every section of the field - which can be downloaded to a home computer later for comparing yield results in the future. There is plenty of low tech work still done by the farmers but it really is a different type of farming from 15 years ago. I was also able to check off an item from my bucket list this day, I rode in the combine during the harvesting of beans. Not much of what I expected but truly enjoyable, the farmer enjoyed the time to speak with someone human. Next time you drive those remote highways that look the same and complain there is nothing to see, try going back and forth across the same field 6 0-70 times.

Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for wide-screens. Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your computer that you can remember and change the background as needed for your OS.
