Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
Welcome to May, with most of the country experiencing April showers we should expect flowers to be in full blown shortly! Along with flowers, I would like to wish all Mothers a Happy Mothers Day later this month. Last year at this time we were talking about how much rain most of the United States were seeing and floods around the Midwest. Now we are seeing Southern Alabama and the Florida panhandle receiving hurricane like rain fall from a recent overnight storm - hopefully all my friends are safe in those area's.
The first image this month is from Starved Rock State Park near Utica Illinois. This image was captured last May after the flood waters receded. This view was actually captured on my hike back out of Illinois Canyon on the east side of the park. Personally I like the canyons on the east side, probably since they are more remote and less visited by the large crowds.
The bird lovers should love the second image this month of a Great Blue Heron. This bird was sitting still waiting for a meal to get close, after about 30 minutes of watching this Heron move about 6 inches, I decided to move on for other bird images. It takes a great deal of patience to shoot images of Herons and Egrets, they are very aware of their surroundings and fly off when you get too close. I have spent a couple of hours capturing images of a single bird feeding but I can tell you it will test your patience hoping to get an image of a meal capture.
