Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
Summer is unofficially over with Labor Day weekend, seems like spring was just beginning - the year is flying by! The Midwest was able to experience real heat and humidity the past few weeks, hopefully we don't have to deal with that anymore this year. Ironically here in Central Illinois, the trees are confused with the current season, we are already seeing leaves changing colors and falling off the trees - may not be a good sign for the remainder of the year.
The first image this month is from the state of Maine, a popular location for locals and tourists - located in York Maine. While shooting images at this location, I met photographers from various states and it's amazing how many visitors stop by for a photo. The light house is known by several names, if you ask the US Coast Guard they will call it Cape Neddick Lightstation while most others will call it Nubble Lighthouse. The lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the town of York currently maintains the park and grounds and the US Coast Guard maintain the light and horn - yes it's still an active light. The morning I shot this sunrise image, some individuals were spotting whales in the nearby water - I was not able to see any whales but it should remind everyone to keep your eyes open as you never know what you might see.
The second image this month was shot from the AMA Flat Track Grand National Peoria TT - Henry Wiles, number 17, continued his dominance of the Peoria TT race. With the win, Wiles earned his 10th consecutive win - an impressive feat in any racing series. Jared Mees kept the pressure on Wiles but could not get in front.
