Tim Lester Images Monthly Update
Happy New Year! Hope all of your dreams and wishes came true in 2014 and hopefully 2015 is prosperous and great for everyone. Seems like this year flew so quick, I certainly had a busy schedule for a majority of the year - looking for a full schedule of photography jobs this new year.
The first image this month is for the 'not so' normal weather we seem to experience so often. This winter I have missed having any snow falling on my head, the only snow we have had in Central Illinois was during a time I was out of state. I was able to return to see snow covering the front yard but it was gone the next day. While I don't want to see a foot of snow every week during the winter, a foot of snow on the ground for a month or longer would be wonderful in my opinion - I know most of my Midwest friends would not agree with this. So the first image of the new year has the near zero snow in the foreground while the background is near blizzard conditions of snow falling. It's amazing how storms can have such a defined line near the edge, this image was shot in Yellowstone National Park.
The last couple of days I have been traveling along the Mississippi River looking for one of my favorite bird of prey - the American Bald Eagle. The second image this month was taken on New Years Eve day, it was the second location of shooting images of Bald Eagles and it was very productive. After traveling around Illinois and Iowa, making six stops with the camera in single digit wind chill temperatures and driving about 500 miles total, I was able to capture some great images. While the total number of Eagles is down compared to the last couple of years, it's also been much warmer in the month of December with very little ice along the rivers, the more ice closing up the rivers creates more Eagles concentrated in smaller area's.
