Welcome to the Fall season, September always brings High School sports and crop harvesting in the Midwest and now that we are now in October the colors will start showing in the trees. Before we know it, the leaves from the trees will be gone and maybe a little of the white stuff falling. This month has some exciting trips planned for myself and hopefully next month we will have some good information and images to share, in addition ice hockey season is starting and High School sports of all sorts will be played and need images taken - I expect to be a little busy.
Our first image this month was taken this week six years ago in Yellowstone National Park, it's also the most popular large print ordered from my website - it looks incredible on metallic paper. FYI - Christmas is coming but you might want to wait until next month to place an order. This image was shot shortly after sunrise along the Main Terrace at Mammoth Hot Springs. The Hot Springs region is a must stop in Yellowstone for the various Terraces, formations and mineral deposits. This is an active region of heat, hot water, limestone and a rock fracture system helping the water reach the surface. Unknown to most people, the frequent earthquakes in Yellowstone keeps an underground 'piping' system open and water flowing. I suspect this area looks very different today when compared to this captured image - maybe a road trip is needed??
The second image this month is from one of the biggest High School Football rivarlies in Peoria area - Washington and Metamora. Both programs are well coached and both teams normally make the post season. So it was expected to be a fairly good game with a majority of the 4000 people in attendance predicting Metamora to win. That's why they play the game! The score was tied at 0 midway into the second quarter, when senior Randy Meneweather ran for 77 yards to score the first points of the game. This image shows Meneweather on his first touchdown, which also shows a pattern for Metamora defense - watching his back going down field. Meneweather ran a total of 278 yards and scored three times, Metamora had a total of 104 yards offense for the game. The final score was 35-0, it was 32 years since Washington had shutout Metamora, with this game being Metamora's first conference loss since 2013.
Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for wide-screens. Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your computer that you can remember and change the background as needed for your OS.
