Like last month, February was a blur for me - so much so that I forgot it was February and there are only 28 days in the month. So a little sorry that you are getting this month's images a day later than normal but I had to delay something and this drew the short straw. March looks like it's going to be jam packed also.

The first image this month is really for myself to be honest, a little inspiration and motivation - still working out details for a trip this month to Southern Utah/Northern Arizona. The trip will be lot's of fun and hoping Mother Nature is nice during my stay - I don't care what she does really, as long as it's not 4" of rain every day. The image is of a photographers dream location and most people have no idea where to find it - found just south of Page AZ. While it's not officially part of Grand Canyon National Park, it's definitely the beginning of beautiful scenery that travels for hundreds of miles - the North and South Rim are about 140 miles south while the parks edge starts about 5 miles away.

For size reference, the cliff walls rise 1000 feet above the Colorado River and for those looking a little deeper in the image - just below center along the shore line you will find a white boat. If I recall correctly, that boat is between 28-32 feet long - so this area is very large. While I have not displayed the complete image I created during this late summer sunrise, I have printed the complete view 20 inches by 60 inches by combining 57 images. If you are afraid of heights don't get too close to the cliff edges - there are no handrails!

The second image this month is one of my favorite captures from last year during the racing season. Wish I could say I planned this but it was one of those right spot/right time images - racer Henry Wiles happened to look my way and kick his leg out at the same time while I was attempting to capture the racers charging hard out of the first corner. This year's racing during Bike Week in Daytona Beach will feature a new temporary race track built inside the speedway specifically for the American Flat Track series. Now I just need to figure out how to be in two places at one time to capture the inaugural Daytona TT race.

Enjoy the images this month.

Here's a link to download the appropriate version of this month's image for your desktop, one for standard screens and one for wide-screens. Right click on the text for the format you need and select Save As, save to a location on your computer that you can remember and change the background as needed for your OS.
