Happy Spring time! While the temperatures have been dropping lately, we are officially in spring - odd since the temperatures in February were higher than we have seen in the past few weeks here in the Midwest. The last few weeks of March have been interesting to say the least, personally I had a wonderful spring break trip to the Southwest with my two children. Most people would call the trip insane, driving 4400 miles over 10 days but we were able to visit 8 National Parks and Monuments in addition to seeing so many wonderful sites along the way. We hiked in snow and desert sands in cloudy and sunny skies along with rain showers, we had a little of everything.

Away from my personal life, a few incredible events have occurred in the past few weeks. First we will talk about the Detroit Redwings hockey team, it's amazing they will not be in the NHL playoffs this year - snapped their 25 year straight playoff appearance record. While I am not a Redwing fan, it will be different without them being in the Stanley Cup playoffs. As I type this, the sports world is going crazy after the UConn Womens basketball team lost to Mississippi State after 111 consecutive wins (longest streak of any DI team ever, men's or women!) - last year Miss St lost by 60 points to UConn. That's why they play the game and nothing is certain.

The first image this month is a macro shot of water droplets on a set of leaves of a flower, the image was converted to black and white. The saying goes, April showers bring May flowers and this image was captured during a rain storm - I actually used an umbrella to keep most of the rain away. I really love the large drop in the upper left corner, reminds me of an eye from a lizard.

Normally the second image for a month is an animal, action or sport event shot, this month I decided to do something a little different. The United States changed in many ways on and after April 19, 1995 - based on an event in Oklahoma City at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, so the second image this month is the Oklahoma City National Memorial. If you have been to the Memorial, it's a place of emotions when you think about the tragedy that occurred on that day - if you have not made the trek, I would highly recommend a visit and talk with the National Park service employees as they can provide numerous details. Sharp eyes will notice in the top center a bright object, that is the planet Jupiter shining above the memorial on this particular morning. Enjoy the images this month.
