September 1st 2020

Hard to believe summer is nearly over and kids are back in school in Central Illinois. With COVID-19 still active it's going to be an interesting school year for all ages, including those in college. The financial strain on the colleges without their major sports this fall is going to be huge for them, so hopefully everything works out for everyone. For everyone reading this newsletter and your families, hopefully everyone is well and staying safe.Up first this month we have a sunset over the Little Missouri River in&nb ...Continue Reading

July 31st 2020

The year is half over and things are getting crazier by the day. So much occurred this month around the United States, not sure there is enough space to talk about everything without making a novel. We will leave politics out of this newsletter but I just want to say that 'ALL Lives Matter', I could go on further but I think that sums up my opinion. Hopefully you would able to see Comet Neowise last month, it was visible in the morning and evening - a little rare but it was a nice surpise for this year. Those who follow ...Continue Reading

July 1st 2020

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe, from what I am reading it sounds like some states have opened up a little early as the number of new cases has never been higher in a single week in the United States. Last Friday and Saturday were the largest number of new cases since the beginning of the outbreak, each day having over 44000 new cases. Please be responsible and take care of yourself and those around you.A couple of months ago, while we were experiencing hot days and cold nights which helped produce morning ...Continue Reading

Appears the world is starting to really get stir crazy, area's are starting to open up and people are flocking to get out of the house. Hopefully everyone is being smart and making good decisions in their day to day activities. Last month I talked about the rain we were having in Central Illinois and a mild flood with the Illinois River. Since then the Midwest experienced rain for 1 week straight which pushed the Illinois River near 28 feet. Most farmers were able to plant their crops before the heavy rains but not sure ...Continue Reading

We hope all the readers are staying safe and healthy during this COVID-19 pandemic as it has a stronghold over our planet.  The State of Illinois is still in a stay at home order and people are going crazy wanting to get out, including a few residents creating lawsuits against the governor for being unconstitutional with his order. Obviously these people would never survive a winter in Alaska! Those of us who live in the Midwest had our fair share of precipitation in the month of April, over five inches o ...Continue Reading

March 31st 2020

While the last update was a short four weeks ago, seems like it was months ago but so much has happened in the world since. The COVID-19 pandemic has been active for many months but it has been affecting the US in many ways for the past five to six weeks, with closing down many businesses and states to prevent spreading of the virus, ironically my printing labs have been shutdown so I can not even ship product. Looking forward, I realized this will last a long period of time and I needed to get out for a few days and cr ...Continue Reading

March 1st 2020

While the images this month will not convey thoughts of spring, due to the snow and ice content, warmer days are not far in the future. This winter has been mild in the Midwest, so winter images along with large concentrations of bald eagles that I enjoy to capture have not been available. While those days have not been available much, every opportunity of snow on the ground I make sure I get out and capture images. The first image this month is an old barn and woodshed, part of a family farm near Peoria IL. This morning ...Continue Reading

January 31st 2020

Hello to Leap Year February, where we use the calendar to align with our actual rotation around the sun - if you did not know, the earth takes 365.24 days to fully orbit around the sun. So while leap day is not exact to make up the 0.76 days, it's really close and we will forget about the extra 0.04 days since it takes 25 years to make that one full day - we make that up every centurial year where we skip leap day. The year 2000 was a centurial year but the scare of Y2K over shadowed the fact of skipping February 29 tha ...Continue Reading
