July 1st 2017

For everyone in the United States, happy fourth of July - our country is 241 years young. The first image is from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, from a small stream located along the Roaring Fork Road near the edge of the park. I learned late last week that this section of the park was not damaged during last years wild fire. The residential area less than 15 minutes away from this spot were not so lucky, their homes were completely destroyed. Our second image this month can have a few different meanings dependi ...Continue Reading

We are now to the sixth month of the year, yes we are about half way into 2017. Time is flying by! As I mentioned last month about the flooding in Central Illinois, we are still above flood stage but should be below that level in the next week, unless Mother Nature has any idea's to extend the flooding. The first image is from another state receiving a large amount of precipitation, with the difference being they are receiving the white stuff. Yes it's still snowing in the Western United States. I will spare you from s ...Continue Reading

It's now May and I might have placed a curse on the Midwest with my April showers last month - here in Central Illinois, the Illinois River was just under 17 feet yesterday. It's been raining so much I might need a boat, the prediction is the river level to be over 25 feet in a few days. Guess that explains the flood warnings for the past few days and over 8 inches of rain for the month. Generally there are April showers, which allows for May flowers - so here are Sunflowers. Hoping this helps stop the rain as we are g ...Continue Reading

Happy Spring time! While the temperatures have been dropping lately, we are officially in spring - odd since the temperatures in February were higher than we have seen in the past few weeks here in the Midwest. The last few weeks of March have been interesting to say the least, personally I had a wonderful spring break trip to the Southwest with my two children. Most people would call the trip insane, driving 4400 miles over 10 days but we were able to visit 8 National Parks and Monuments in addition to seeing so many w ...Continue Reading

March 1st 2017

Like last month, February was a blur for me - so much so that I forgot it was February and there are only 28 days in the month. So a little sorry that you are getting this month's images a day later than normal but I had to delay something and this drew the short straw. March looks like it's going to be jam packed also. The first image this month is really for myself to be honest, a little inspiration and motivation - still working out details for a trip this month to Southern Utah/Northern Arizona. The trip will be lo ...Continue Reading

January 31st 2017

January is over and I was so busy I think I missed the month - OK, not all of the month but most of it. One weekend was so busy, I traveled enough miles between Friday evening to Sunday evening that I could have driven from New York City to Jacksonville FL. Business has been steady in January and February is normally good with hockey clients, so I expect this month to be very active but hopefully I get to see something while it fly's by. The first image this month was a common sight in January - while we had cold condi ...Continue Reading

Say goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017 - this past year just flew by! The year was very busy and hectic at times for myself but good overall, we worked with some new and current clients while providing some great images to them. Thanks to all my clients that used my services this past year, looking forward to working with you again this new year. The first image this month seems to be typical of our Midwest winters, starts out really cold (before the trees have dropped all of their leaves), warms up, get's cold again, w ...Continue Reading

December 2nd 2016

The end of 2016 is near - where did this year go? My apologies for this being sent a day later than normal. The first image this month is burned out trees in Great Smoky Mountains NP. Fires occur in forest regions around the United States every month but the fires between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge Tennessee will change those area's for decades. Great Smoky Mountains NP average two fires a year but normally in the Spring. Hopefully Mother Nature and the firefighting crews can control the fires and prevent any addition ...Continue Reading

Not sure I can believe that November is here, before we know it the white stuff will start falling. Until then it, appears that trees are either ready or not to drop their leaves, here in Central Illinois the majority of tree's don't feel like changing into a vibrant color. Hopefully they change their mind this week and we can capture some wonderful color. Should be some great weather over the next few weeks, so get out and enjoy the outdoors! The first image this month is subdued fall colors from Bond Falls in Michiga ...Continue Reading

Fall is here and farmers in the Midwest are harvesting as much as Mother Nature will allow. While the mountains in the West are putting on a good color display, locations in the Midwest are starting to turn colors and cooler temperatures this weekend should help move things along. The first image this month is fall colors from the Ottawa National Forest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, taken a few years ago during a photo trip that was primarily planned for waterfalls. If you are prepared, all photo opportunities can be ...Continue Reading
