Tim Lester Images Monthly Update

November 1st 2015

It's hard to believe there are only two months left this year! For myself the month of October was a blur - the first couple of weeks was spent traveling and photographing the Southwest, this was a little vacation that packed a large number of locations into a short amount of time. After 4200 miles of driving, there are a few thousand images from 19 locations to review and process - small price to pay after experiencing some of Mother Natures handiwork, visiting ancient remnants and meeting individuals from around the w ...Continue Reading

Welcome to the Fall season, September always brings High School sports and crop harvesting in the Midwest and now that we are now in October the colors will start showing in the trees. Before we know it, the leaves from the trees will be gone and maybe a little of the white stuff falling. This month has some exciting trips planned for myself and hopefully next month we will have some good information and images to share, in addition ice hockey season is starting and High School sports of all sorts will be played and nee ...Continue Reading

August was a busy month, as I look back on it now it's hard to believe all that happened. Now that it's September that means a few things, Ice Hockey and High School football games begin. In July I had some minor problems with one of my camera bodies, at least I thought it was minor at the time - I sent the camera body into Canon and they informed me that the shutter needed to be replaced. Luckily I get a discount being a Canon Professional member! After that I decided to send in every lens and camera body into Canon fo ...Continue Reading

It's August and those along the northern half of the Illinois River can start relaxing as the river finally dropped below flood stage yesterday in Peoria. Area's closer to the Mississippi River are still experiencing some flooding but hopefully that will be resolved soon. The river peaked on June 30th and it's rare for the river to be above flood stage for two(2) months - have to feel sorry for businesses and residences near the edge of the river. I read a quote from a Marina owner who indicated they normally sell 20000 ...Continue Reading

Happy 4th of July to all of my US based friends, enjoy the fireworks and travel safe if you are on the roadways. For those outside of the Midwest, please send boats of any shape and size! June is officially the wettest month on record for the State of Illinois. The airport in Peoria recorded over 11.5 inches of rain in June alone, 3.5 inches is normal, they recorded 16.6 inches in May and June combined. It's amazing the Illinois River is not higher, it's still a few feet below the 2013 flood level. The first image was ...Continue Reading

June is upon us, that means all the kids will be out of school soon - if they are not already. Funny that as kids we could not be done with school soon enough but as adults we would love to have the schedule back. While kids are still young they don't understand why parents have to work year round while they get a break for a few months. The first image this month is about as fresh as they get, it was shot less than 7 hours ago. It was followed by additional shots around the city of Chicago and a 3.5 hour sit and drive ...Continue Reading

May 1st 2015

Welcome to the month of May, most of the United States has seen it's share of rain in April so those May flowers will be everywhere before we know it. In Central Illinois we already have a large number of flowers blooming and I expect more will be popping up real soon. Couple of big events in May, the Kentucky Derby is this weekend and later this month is the Indianapolis 500 car race - a couple of classic races that should be on everyone's bucket list. I have been able to experience most of the Indy 500 events like pra ...Continue Reading

Well it seems like I must have slept too long or something, March is over already! Not sure why but the month flew by - must be related to being busy every day of the month, I should not complain when I stay busy. Spring is officially here in the Midwest, for my friends to the North it seems like winter is holding on a little longer and my friends in the Southwest are seeing Summer temperatures already. Earlier in the month of March I was able to take a day and have a personal shoot at Starved Rock State Park of the fro ...Continue Reading

March 1st 2015

Last month I may have spoke a little soon about the weather, seems like most of the United States received more precipitation in February than any month prior during this winter season. I know everyone living or traveling in the Northeast are ready for winter to be over. I like snow but they have entirely too much on the ground and based on the snow we are receiving as this moment, it's only going to get worse for them. This time of year is always very busy for me and ice hockey is the main focus of my time. A couple o ...Continue Reading

First of all, I would like to say thanks to everyone for their comments regarding the images last month - appreciate the kind words regarding my work. Hopefully you are surviving the weather in your area, seems like most of the country is experiencing some kind of precipitation. My friends in the Northeast are having 'fun' dealing with the snow from last week and those of us in the Upper Midwest are currently seeing rain or snow falling as I type this. The first image this month is from Matthiessen State Park near Utic ...Continue Reading
