Just last month when I was sending out the update, we were having a large snow storm in the Midwest - we have another one heading our way again! Most people are ready for Spring to start and have the snow melt away, sorry to say it might be a little longer with a few storms heading east. Every year in February I shoot images for the Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) Silver Cup hockey tournament. While it's difficult to win one championship for a college team, the University of Wisconsin Platteville did t ...Continue Reading

Happy snow day to everyone in the Midwest! Ok, so maybe not everyone is happy about the snow traveling across the Central US. Winter is definitely here and we will see if Groundhog Day has any predictions for an early spring. Personally, I have numerous trips planned this winter, so I would not complain if winter was a little longer - I know I am in the minority thinking like this. The first image this month is iconic Delicate Arch from Arches National Park in Utah. Delicate Arch is on the Utah license plate and is pro ...Continue Reading

Happy New Year to everyone around the world, hoping 2014 is better than 2013 for all my readers. My 2013 was good overall, I was hired by a few new clients and was able to shoot some new products that I never thought I would have shot previously. There were numerous challenges during the year, with some successful and some not so successful but I believe all my clients were happy with the results we obtained. While I don't make New Years Resolutions, I do plan on making 2014 a better year and produce unique images for a ...Continue Reading

Hopefully this newsletter for December finds everyone in good health and safe. This last month was a real test for the Midwest, the month started with snow on the ground for a few days and then Mother Nature dropped a bomb Sunday morning on November 17th. While I don't know how many states actually had tornado's touch down, Illinois was hit fairly hard with 1000's of families with no place to stay after storms left miles of destruction. Washington IL was hit extremely hard with an EF-4 tornado that destroyed complete su ...Continue Reading

Can you believe Halloween is over and it's November!? That means turkey day is on the way and the countdown to a certain day filled with presents - sorry but it's still to early to start talking about that holiday. It appears Fall is here in Central Illinois, the last few days was like a light switch - no colors and now some great color. Hopefully last month no one had their trips interrupted by the government shutdown, it lasted longer than I expected and it did cause a slight problem for one of my trips last month. Ho ...Continue Reading

Welcome to fall, for those individuals in the Northern Hemisphere - weather has been a little strange lately around the United States, hopefully the wonderful fall colors stay in your area for some time. Wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to those in Colorado affected by the flooding, hard to imagine some of the roads I was driving on 3 months ago no longer exist. They may not exist for a couple of years, that will be tough for a very large number of people and businesses. Today marks the 123rd Anniversary of Yosem ...Continue Reading

After the wonderful weather Central Illinois enjoyed last month, we had a couple of interesting twists - like Mother Nature likes to do now and then to keep us on our toes. First, after the cool weather a large number of trees thought fall was here and started changing colors and dropping leaves. Then we were able to enjoy hot and humid weather once again, with temperatures in the upper 90's and high humidity - I was really hoping that was over. The first image this month is not from Mesa Verde National Park, which we ...Continue Reading

Welcome to a special edition of the Monthly Update - I just returned from a print hanging at One World Cafe in Peoria, IL. For the next four weeks there is a National Park photo exhibit which I am proud to be part of the display. The exhibit includes four photographers with two prints each from five different national parks - a few parks have more than one image. My images are from Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Zion National Park. If you have a spare half hour, more if you are hungry, stop by One World Cafe a ...Continue Reading

Oops - it appears I need to get some sleep as I forgot to include the link in the original message. I stopped the message delivery but I know a large number of people received the message with no link. Sorry. Time to go to bed! :-) Can you believe summer is half over and children around the US will be heading back to school in a few weeks. It's been a very busy month and I have been shooting a wide range of topics, including for some new clients. Some of these shoots may be shared in the future, providing the clients a ...Continue Reading

Can you believe summer is half over and children around the US will be heading back to school in a few weeks. It's been a very busy month and I have been shooting a wide range of topics, including for some new clients. Some of these shoots may be shared in the future, providing the clients allow us to share some images. Central Illinois is enjoying a nice week of weather, even with some rain the temperatures have been in the 70's - nothing to complain about the last week of July! Hopefully you are doing well in your lo ...Continue Reading
