Can you believe 2013 is half over already? This month we are not going to talk about Mother Nature and the destruction she has been involved with - maybe she will stay quiet this month if we don't talk about her. Last month was really busy as we had a family vacation scheduled; we headed West for some wonderful outdoor experiences. I thought they were wonderful but certain family members may disagree - I can say everyone had a good time overall. So for the next few months you can expect to see numerous images from Color ...Continue Reading

Say hello to the month of June! Why does it seem every month we talk about Mother Nature unleashing storms? She has been really testing the human spirit over the last few weeks by pounding the central regions of the United States. From numerous tornado's in the Plains to additional rain in the Midwest. Most rivers receeded to non-flood level stages and then within a few weeks are back to flood stages. In 2012, Illinois received 34.12 inches of precipitation and so far this year we have received 17.9 inches with nearly 1 ...Continue Reading

Welcome to May, before I go to far, I would like to wish all Mothers a Happy Mothers Day this month. Didn't I talk about Mother Nature unleashing storms near the end of each month during last months update? Two weeks ago she decided to share some severe weather with most of the country, hopefully everyone survived without too much damage. While the West and North was treated to snow, most everyone else received rain, in Central Illinois we were provided with 4-7" of rain in 2 days! The Illinois River crested at 29. ...Continue Reading

Welcome to the month of April, I am not sure but having April 1st on a Monday is most likely an April Fools joke in one - I could be wrong. Seems like Mother Nature likes unleashing storms near the end of each month, last weekend she dropped a large amount of snow across the Plains. While the Peoria area received a nice coating of snow, further south received more than their share. My son's Boy Scout troop had their March camping trip near Springfield IL, they woke up to 4.5 inches of snow covering the ground and tents ...Continue Reading

Can you believe it's March already?!? Seems like the first of January was just a few weeks ago. Mother Nature has been unleashing a great deal of snow across the Plains and Northeast, even here in Central Illinois we have snow that has covered all the grass and stayed for a week now - seems odd given the winter we have experienced this year. For those people who know me, the winter is spent at the hockey rink, looking for bald eagles and looking for interesting winter landscapes. The past few month's seems like I only s ...Continue Reading

Welcome to the month of February, hopefully for those in the Northern Hemisphere you are staying warm and everyone in the Southern Hemisphere, we hope you are enjoying your summer. The weather in the Midwest has been very wild this week, one day was like a summer day with rain where we thought we might need to build an ark then to snow the next with a 46 degree temperature drop in less than 36 hours. In Central Illinois, we experienced 8 days above 50 degrees - really strange for January. As I type this newsletter, the ...Continue Reading
