Tim Lester Images Monthly Update

December 31st 2012

Another year has come and gone, the doomsayers were all wrong as the world did not end a few weeks ago - such a shock! Guess I need to pay all the bills now. :-) As I look back on the past year, the Midwest seemed to have relatively calm weather compared to most of the United States. We were very dry like most of the country; even remnants of Hurricane Issac did not help create picturesque water falls in some of our popular State Parks. Most of my free time this year was spent learning finer details of photography and ...Continue Reading

It appears that winter has arrived in the Midwest and northern states, in Illinois we have already experienced single digit temperatures at night and snow flurries. Curious how Mother Nature is going to treat everyone this year, hopefully she is nice. Last month Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy hit the Eastcoast and did some incredible damage, really changing the landscape for humans and wildlife. Both images this month show a few different views of seaside locations. I don't normally go in the technical side of things but h ...Continue Reading

Fall is over for the Midwest and northern states, seemed like it arrived and left really quick this year. From my research it appears most area's had really good color even though the color forecast was not great due to the drought around most of the United States. Hopefully all my clients and friends in the Northeast have survived Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy, it's incredible to think 2 months ago I was driving on some of the roads and tunnels that were or currently under water. Hopefully all businesses and services can ...Continue Reading

Summer is now over officially and fall is active or will be starting soon for most within the United States. It's been a good month for me, had requests for photography projects from Europe and sold prints to someone outside the United States. Life is good when you expand the boundaries of your business. Looking forward to a good fall season, hopefully your area has good color also - get outside and enjoy the fresh air! The first image is a little different from my normal images and was shot in Searsport Maine in Augus ...Continue Reading

Welcome to the month of September, all kids around the United States just love being back in school - OK, maybe not all of them. Thoughts and prayers to everyone along the Gulf Coast affected by Isaac, hopefully the Midwest and Eastern US only have rain as the storm continues it's path. Those of us in the Midwest can use the rain, unfortunately the water is a little late for the farmers. The first image this month is looking at Manhattan in New York City, as seen from Liberty State Park in New Jersey, the Hudson River ...Continue Reading

July 31st 2012

Welcome to the month of August, the year is half over and a majority of kids around the United States will be starting school within the next 4 weeks. I don't plan on telling my kids, I am sure they know it but really don't want to admit summer is over. For those interested in astronomy, there is a 'Blue Moon' this month. A 'Blue Moon' is a rare event when there are two full moons in one month. This will not happen again until July 2015. There is also the annual Persied Meteor shower peaking on August 11th, it's on a Sa ...Continue Reading

Hope everyone survived the month of June, it was very busy for myself which is good. July will be slower and then August is going to be very busy. It was a tough decision for the images this month but since I had so many positive comments about the Arizona image I decided to supply another one this month. I always appreciate feedback on the images, so let me know what you think about them - good or bad. If you have a special request, let me know and maybe you will have your request honored! The first image this month i ...Continue Reading

Another month gone by and Mother Nature is toying with the Midwest once again. While I type this it's about 48 degrees outside, big difference from mid 90's we had 5 days ago. June is a busy month, for the astronomy fans out there there are a few events next week. On Tuesday morning in the US, earlier morning risers will be able to view a partial lunar eclipse. Then the following day there is a transit of Venus across the face of the sun. The transit of Venus is one of those rare and momentous spectacles in observation ...Continue Reading

Well a quarter of the year is gone already, I must be having fun since I don't remember January or February! Must be something with the weather, it's just not normal - at least not here in Central Illinois. I am staying very busy so that might be part of it also. One project I am involved in this year is called Project 52, we are given a weekly assignment with a theme or subject with no detail to detailed instructions and have to use our skills to come up with an image. It's been very challenging and has required me to ...Continue Reading

Hard to believe April is here, I am still waiting for snow to fall - guess not this year. Normally this time of year, area's along the river valley's of the Midwest are preparing for flooding caused by snow melt and heavy spring rains. That's one positive from this winter, it's hard to see people lose their house and/or possessions. The primary image this month is from outside the town of Kayenta AZ, this location is south of Monument Valley. This formation is Agathla Peak, it's an eroded volcanic plug that stands abou ...Continue Reading
